Two Brownsville Independent School District seniors have been awarded the Impact Scholarship to The University of Texas at Austin.

The $48,000 scholarship covers the cost of tuition over four years at UT and recognizes incoming high-potential students who are making an impact in their local communities, BISD said in a news release.

UT awarded the Impact Scholarship to Miranda Sofia Saldivar Herrera from Hanna Early College High School and Angela Gomez-Cepeda from Lopez Early College High School.

UT selects Impact Scholarship recipients through a holistic review process.

A student’s demonstrated leadership, proven academic success, financial need, perseverance and commitment to their schools and communities are among the factors evaluated when selecting Impact scholars.
