McAllen holiday parade to feature another Cowboys guest

Another member of the Dallas Cowboys will be joining the roster for this year’s McAllen Holiday Parade.

Super Bowl Champion Tony Casillas will be making an appearance at the annual Christmas celebration, joining previously announced Tony Hill and Nate Newton.

Parade organizers with the city made the announcement Tuesday morning with the help of Trevon Diggs, a starting cornerback with the Cowboys.

“Every year, we build on the parade to make it bigger and brighter than the year before. And this year, we are innovating, especially for our Dallas Cowboys fans,” said McAllen City Commissioner Omar Quintanilla. “I’m excited to present another Dallas Cowboys legend that will be visiting us on Dec. 3 at this year’s McAllen Holiday Parade: two-time Super Bowl champion, all-pro defensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys — and a fellow Mexican American — No. 75, Tony Casillas!”

The city also unveiled a new parade feature: the Skybox Fan Experience zone.

The Skybox fan experience, sponsored by the McAllen International Airport, is an exclusive, reserved seating area. Attendees who sit in the area will receive a T-shirt, noisemaker and an LED gift.

It will also include an appearance by a celebrity host, airport and Dallas Cowboys memorabilia giveaways, and a DJ on an LED stage that will feature Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

“The McAllen International Airport is beyond thrilled to launch our new Skybox fan experience at the 2022 McAllen Holiday Parade,” Elizabeth Saurez, director of aviation for the airport, said in a statement. “The McAllen International Airport Skybox is an exclusive parade party along this year’s McAllen Holiday Parade route that will feature entertainment for our Dallas Cowboys super fans.”

Tickets for the Skybox Fan Experience went on sale Tuesday for $10 at mcallenholidayparade.com.
