Target is ramping up its Apple partnership

HARLINGEN — Target Corp. officials have announced they are expanding their successful Apple store-within-a-store concept as well as adding perks for loyalty customers.

Target and Apple are tripling their number of partnership stores to over 150 this year. The company began with 17 locations in February 2021.

Target has three Apple stores at its McAllen locations, as well as Apple stores at its locations in Mission, Harlingen and Brownsville.

The Apple stores inside Target are not full Apple stores.

Customers would have to travel to San Antonio or Houston, for example, to purchase a MacBook or iMac computer.

Apple products one can buy at the Target Apple stores include iPhones, iPads, Apple watches, ear buds and Apple TV and other accessories.

“For years, Target has been a destination for Apple products. Now we are excited to deepen our collaboration with Apple so even more guests can access the exceptional Apple at Target shop-in-shop experience,” said Jill Sando, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at Target. “Through our Target Circle, our popular free-to-join loyalty program, we’re also giving our guests the opportunity to try services like Apple Fitness+ for free and with no purchase required.”

Target Circle will also offer members free trials of Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and iCloud+ starting this month.

Although they’re just trial offers, they are quite open-ended, and won’t expire until September 2023.
