Raymondville woman dies in one-vehicle fatal crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash after a Raymondville woman was struck by another vehicle after she had crashed hers when she struck a guardrail Sunday morning, according to a news release.

Police say the incident occurred around 5:23 a.m. on U.S. 77 south of the Cameron-Willacy county line.

According to preliminary investigation, the woman, Keila Nayley Oviedo, 29, was driving northbound in a white Buick Lacrosse and failed to drive in a single lane when she struck a guardrail causing her vehicle to spin and stop in the middle of U.S. 77.

The release said that when Oviedo exited her vehicle, she was struck by a black Chevrolet Malibu.

The driver of the Malibu exited their vehicle to check on Oviedo and jumped off the over-path in order to avoid being struck by another vehicle.

The Malibu driver was taken to a local hospital as well as Oviedo, but she died from the injuries she sustained during the crash.

Authorities said their continuing investigation of the fatal crash.
