A criminal complaint revealed that a man accused of kidnapping asked the victim if she would like to “go with him” before assaulting her at a gas station in Donna.
Roy Anthony Alvarez Yanez, 38, is charged with kidnapping after asking the victim, who refused to go with him after he had asked, and subsequently assaulting her.
Donna police responded to the attempted kidnapping at 9:01 p.m. on Aug. 7 at the Circle K on 1009 W. Eastbound Frontage Road, where officers met with the victim.
According to the complaint, she stated that she was paying for gas when Yanez approached her and asked if she would go with him, to which she refused and watched him walk away.
The victim “further stated that she walked outside and towards her vehicle in order to pump gas. All of a sudden, she observed [Yanez] come around the back side of the pump and grabbed her by the arm and buttocks and attempted to pull her towards his vehicle,” the complaint stated.
She began to scream and fought back, causing Yanez to let go and flee in his black Chevrolet Equinox, which belonged to his mother, according to the complaint.
Detectives managed to obtain a copy of the surveillance footage and still shots of Yanez, which helped police identify the alleged kidnapper due to previous incidents.
On Aug. 10, Donna police confirmed to have arrested Yanez at his residence without incident.
Yanez remains jailed at the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.
