Pharr police say the three men who were arraigned Thursday for burglary of vehicles were not connected with one another and committed the crimes on their own, according to a news release.
Julio Cesar Vela, 22, faces two burglary charges for an incident in the Nolana and Ebony Street area as well as possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a firearm by felon and evading arrest.
Mark Medina, 17, is charged with two counts of burglary of a vehicle that occurred in the area of Linden and the 1400 block of Heritage Street.
Tyrone Nathan Kilete, 23, is charged with three counts of burglary of a vehicle which happened on the 1300 block of Heritage, as well as one count of evading arrest.
The release says detectives are still working on several burglaries that may be connected to either person, so additional charges are possible.
“Detectives also recovered stolen property at one subject’s residence as well as a pawn shop,” the release said.
Court records show that both Vela and Kilete have a history of burglarizing vehicles and have been previously convicted.
The trio remained jailed in the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center with Medina on $17,000 in bonds, Kilete on $50,000 in bonds and Vela on $92,000 in bonds.
