An Edinburg man who uploaded child sexual abuse material to his Google account was indicted Friday.
Adan Alvarez Gutierrez, who was born in 1986, is charged with possessing or accessing child pornography.
According to court documents, Gutierrez was previously convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Gutierrez was charged in 2011 however he was not indicted until 2014.
It’s not immediately clear what his sentenced was in that state case because online court records that include allegations of sexual abuse against children are not available publicly online.
On June 15, Homeland Security Investigations agents were contacted by the Texas Attorney General’s Office with an investigative report form Google involving a suspect account that was uploading multiple files of child sexual abuse material, according to a criminal complaint.
Agents made contact with Gutierrez at his residence in Edinburg that same day where he admitted to downloading and possessing child pornography, the complaint says.
According to the document, Gutierrez consented to a search of his cellphone and directed agents to his MEGA account, a cloud-based storage, revealing an approximate 900 videos of child sexual abuse material.
Gutierrez remains in custody and is scheduled for arraignment on July 21.
