The Rio Grande City Police Department responded to a crash that occurred on Business 83 and Blas Chapa at about 12:46 p.m. Monday that left one driver hospitalized, according to Assistant Chief Jose Solis.
A silver Chevrolet pickup truck traveling westbound veered into the eastbound lane where it crashed into a Kenworth tractor trailer.
The 19-year-old driver was airlifted to a local hospital for injuries sustained during the crash but is in stable condition.
“We heard today that he was doing better,” Solis said.
According to police, the truck driver didn’t sustain any injuries and if they did, they were minor.
Solis says they are investigating the incident.
