EDINBURG — “The one we’ve deemed a legend.” Edinburg Police Chief Jaime Ayala spoke eloquently of his friend, assistant chief Peter De La Garza who retired Thursday to red, white and blue balloons that surrounded the stage at the Bert Ogden Arena in honor of his 43 years with the department.
