Hidalgo County reported four COVID-19 related deaths and 371 new cases of the virus Wednesday morning.
The four deaths include two Edinburg men in their 40s and 60s, and a man and a woman both from Mission in their 30s and 70s, respectively. The county’s death toll rose to 2,747 after Wednesday’s reported deaths.
According to a news release, the new COVID-19 cases include 250 that are confirmed, 117 that are probable and four suspected. The county now has reported a total of 84,085 cases, of which 55,954 are confirmed, 26,807 probable and 1,324 suspected.
As of Wednesday morning, there were 119 people in county hospitals, and 44 people are in intensive care units. There were an additional 315 people released from isolation Wednesday, raising that total to 79,218.
There are 2,120 net active cases in the county.
Hidalgo County has administered a total of 435,810 tests, with 350,977 returning negative.
Cameron County reported three additional virus-related deaths and 27 new cases of the virus there.
The deaths include a Brownsville woman in her 70s, a San Benito woman in her 70s, and a Santa Rosa man in his 30s. The deaths raise the county’s COVID toll to 1,568.
More than half of Cameron County’s 27 new cases were from Brownsville, which had 14 new cases. The county’s total number of confirmed cases now stands at 38,282.
The county also reported an additional 297 people recovered from the virus, raising that total to 35,300.
