SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — Another location has been added to the list of places the public can visit to pick up a vaccination voucher.
The City of South Padre Island will issue a limited number of vaccination vouchers today for the vaccination clinic scheduled on Thursday, Jan. 21 at the Los Fresnos Fire Department.
Today, between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Island residents are able to call (956) 761-8110 to preregister for a voucher.
Vouchers will be based on age, with the oldest being given preference.
At 2:30 p.m., residents are able to visit the SPI Police Department to receive the voucher.
The police department is located at 4601 Padre Blvd.
Residents will need to provide a government-issued identification with a SPI address.
The required identification or proof of permanent residency is needed to receive the voucher.
The vouchers are only valid for Thursday’s Cameron County Vaccination Clinic in Los Fresnos, which will be held from 6 a.m. to noon at 100 Rodeo Dr.
“Please keep in mind that while we have a very limited number of vouchers, we hope to expand the city’s capability to distribute more in the future,” SPI Mayor Patrick McNulty stated in a press release. “We look forward to more vaccinations being distributed.”
Other locations distributing vouchers include — Commissioner Precinct 1 and 2 Warehouses in Brownsville, Commissioner Precinct 3 Warehouse in San Benito and Commissioner Precinct 4 Warehouse in La Feria.
