Rehabilitation is re-habilitating an individual who has lost some of their functionality brought on by an accident, stroke or other unforeseen circumstance. Their limitation in capacity may include loss of speech, ability to eat or walk on their own, diminished business execution, a general state of depression brought on by their physical and intellectual hardships, or a whole host of other symptoms.
The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physicians, also known as physiatrists, works with a number of other trained experts including nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, social workers, and behavioral counselors.
Rehabilitation services has a collective mission to assist patients in their specific path to recovery. Often that starts in an inpatient setting and continues into outpatient centers.
We use the latest technological tools, training and knowledge to achieve our ultimate goal of returning our patients to their prior level of functionality or come as close as humanly possible.
We want to see all of our patients return to their families, jobs, and communities and live independent and productive lives.
While some people who suffer from strokes or accidents could recover on their own, seeking treatment at a rehabilitation center can help them avoid long term complications and keep them from developing severe, life-long deficits.
Rehabilitation centers provide structure, assure faster and lasting recovery, offer a team dedicated to holistic support by way of psychosocial support for the patient as well as their family. They can even have access to continuous care through participation in support groups.
When people have suffered from a stroke, head injury, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s, MS, multi trauma & sever orthopedic or rheumatologic conditions, rehabilitation centers offer all the necessary treatments under one roof.
