As the school year winds down, families everywhere begin to envision a summer filled with relaxation and fun. Often seen as a period to unwind from the rigorous demands of academic life, summer also presents an extraordinary opportunity for new experiences. For families who have never ventured into the world of music lessons, there’s no better time to start than during these warm, expansive months.

A reader recently pointed out, with proper disgust, a banner flying in public using the phrase “f—- Biden.” The word was spelled out and the vowels were in place. I have seen similar stickers on cars. I have seen them on T-shirts. Evidently the nugatory complaints against the current administration do not lend themselves to serious or substantive discourse, so vulgarities are all the pro-Trump rabble have left. It diminishes both their standing and their argument — or lack thereof.

Sam Houston and the remaining Texas militia is captured or forced east across the Louisiana border into the United States. Houston hurriedly led his men eastward in full retreat.
