Prayer breakfast canceled

HARLINGEN — The annual Harlingen Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast has been canceled.

The event was originally scheduled for Thursday, March 26, but because of the COVID-19 outbreak it was postponed.

Mayor Chris Boswell had scheduled a tentative date of Oct. 8.

“While we’re sad about postponing being together for prayer and fellowship and messages of hope, this is the safest course of action during the pandemic. We ask continued prayers for our health care workers, first responders and all those affected by COVID 19,” Boswell said.

“Seven months later, COVID is still very much dictating what we can and cannot do in terms of social events, necessitating the second postponement,” Kathy Wolf, a member of the planning committee, said.
