Cameron County Precinct 4 to host school supply drive-thru

LA FERIA — Families in need of school supplies will be able to get the help they need at this upcoming event.

Cameron County Precinct 4 will host a school supply drive-thru on Saturday, Aug. 15 at its office, which is located at 26623 White Ranch Rd. in La Feria.

The school supply drive-thru will start at 9 a.m. and will continue until supplies last.

All children in first through fifth grade are able to receive the free school-supply kit. Students must be present to receive it.

Joshua Gonzales, an organizer of the event, said the school supply drive has been in the works since March when the pandemic began and students switched to online learning.

“We thought we could show some support by giving them whatever tools they need, whether that be notepads, pencils or even USB flash drives,” Gonzales said. “We’re trying to give them anything they might need whether they go to school in-person or online, things that will benefit them.”

The precinct is also accepting donations for the school supply drive-thru.
