Recently, Mercedes City Commissioners voted 3-2 to hire a new marketing facilitator. This job will require this new employee to contact large and small businesses from local, state and national companies that wish to set up shop in the city of Mercedes.
Before they voted, a concerned commissioner spoke up and stated that the city should advertise this job opening in order to get a more diverse group of applicants before making a hire.
Later, after some discussion, the aforementioned applicant informed commissioners that he had 12 years banking experience and presently was working as an elementary school coach with the local school district. He also told them of being able to do this job after 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. each day.
Almost immediately, another commissioner made a motion to hire this applicant without any further discussion. The vote was then taken. He will be paid $3,000 per month, about $36,000 per year, for his services.
Later, a concerned citizen contacted the local school district superintendent and was informed that the newly hired marketing facilitator for the city of Mercedes is required to work until 5 p.m. each day for his regular coaching duties.

Second Amendment rights
I have heard people commenting on news programs that the Second Amendment was only intended for civilians to own firearms similar to those that were available during the times of our Founding Fathers. Specifically, they mention the single-shot musket — probably because they aren’t aware that other firearms were available for private ownership then. The 1779 Girandoni semi-automatic repeating rifle, and the 1718 automatic fire ‘Puckle Gun’ are two examples.

Trump’s military parade
So now President Donald Trump wants a massive military parade to be held on the Fourth of July. He said that he already gave the order to the Pentagon to start preparing for it. Wouldn’t it be a better idea to spend all those millions of dollars on putting more U.S. Border Patrol agents to work on the border? I would not doubt that he is going to order that when the soldiers are passing by for him to high step it and to lift their arms and go “Hiya Trump.”
