Harlingen unveils new city app

HARLINGEN — Officials are rolling out a new mobile app developed to help residents file complaints and request for services with City Hall.

The app, called Harlingen TX City App was developed by E-Gov Link, cost $2,500 along with a $1,000 annual maintenance fee, said Sergio Mujica, the city’s management information systems director.

Mujica said the app is available to be downloaded free of charge for both iPhones and Android smartphones.

Residents can use the app to file complaints and request services from several city departments.

Mujica said the app allows residents to register geographic locations to submit photographs of sources of complaints, from potholes to non-operating traffic lights.

Residents can also select city departments to address their complaint and requests. He said the app assigns complaints and requests to department supervisors.
