San Benito High School and San Benito Veterans Memorial Academy band students competed at this year’s Texas Music Educators Association All Region competition, and a total of 50 student musicians earned a chair in the All Region Band, affording them an opportunity to perform at a concert at the Harlingen CISD Performing Arts Center. According to San Benito CISD Director of Bands Dayri Mendoza, 16 of the All Region Band honorees will advance to the Area round of competition in January 2018 in Corpus Christi.
Under the direction and leadership of Mendoza and an outstanding music program staff, the district’s student musicians proudly participate in various concerts and clinics and compete in University Interscholastic League (UIL) concert and sight-reading contests throughout the year.
