HARLINGEN — Police are still searching for the driver who struck and killed a woman last Thursday night.
The fatal accident happened along 1100 block of Business 77 around 10 p.m.
When they arrived, officers found 57-year-old Natividad Chavez, of Harlingen, lying unresponsive in the middle of the street.
Witnesses told police Chavez was struck by a light colored passenger car. They say the driver failed to stop and drove north on Business 77 before turning east on Tyler Avenue.
Chavez was taken to the hospital where she later died.
Police say debris left at the scene suggests the car was a white 2013 to 2016 Ford Fusion. It sustained front end damage during the collision.
