PSJA middle school student arrested with unloaded gun

SAN JUAN — A 15 year-old student at Raul Yzaguirre Middle School was taken into San Juan Police Department custody Monday morning after taking an unloaded gun to school, according to a Pharr-San Juan-Alamo school district news release.

SAN JUAN — A 15 year-old student at Raul Yzaguirre Middle School was taken into San Juan Police Department custody Monday morning after taking an unloaded gun to school, according to a Pharr-San Juan-Alamo school district news release.

PSJA officials reported the incident took place at about 11 a.m. when the 8th grade student showed the pistol to a classmate who reported it to school officials, according to the release.

“The pistol was not loaded and the student had no ammunition,” the release states. “He will face legal consequences and maximum school discipline.”

The San Juan Police Department confirmed the incident Monday afternoon by posting a statement on social media. But no further information on the minor was released.

“Just now. 15 year old male student arrested for carrying unloaded .25 caliber and narcotics to Yzguirre Middle School,” the post reads.
