Harlingen chief’s DWI arrest surfaces: 2012 Austin case was dismissed

HARLINGEN — A police report and videos have surfaced showing Police Chief Jeffry Adickes was arrested for DWI in Austin in 2012.

The nearly four-year-old video shows Adickes being placed in handcuffs and guided into the back of a patrol car.

Ultimately, the misdemeanor case was dismissed in court in 2014, according to records.

The arrest came two years after he retired as an assistant police chief for the Austin Police Department and about two years before he was hired as Harlingen’s chief.

Adickes declined to comment on the report and videos, posted yesterday in emails by a former Austin police officer.
