Best of the best: South Texas ISD schools rank among top in nation

OLMITO — The students carry their classroom learning into doctors’ offices.

They solve problems with robots and learn how such disciplines as Spanish and health science are interrelated.

Now the rigorous endeavors of the students, teachers and administrators at the South Texas Independent School District have been recognized in a big way. Three of the schools have been ranked among the top in the nation for “Beating the Odds” by Newsweek magazine.

Those schools are Science Academy of South Texas, South Texas High School for Health Professions and South Texas Academy for Medical Professions.
