For 4th straight year, TEA grades district with highest rating

HARLINGEN — Well, it’s happened again.

Each year, when the Texas Education Agency releases its accountability ratings, locals quickly notice the top marks earned by the Harlingen school district.

Now, for the fourth straight year, the school district has once again exceeded requirements.

“We’re really proud of the work of our teachers and our staff,” said Alicia Noyola, chief academic office for the district.

“The results that we saw really validated all the work that they put in this past year,” Noyola said. “We’re hopeful that this success continues. We’ve implemented a number of initiatives so that we’ll continue to see that growth into next year’s performance as well.”

The district, and all of its campuses, were graded as “Met Standard,” the TEA’s highest rating.

The district scored higher than the basic requirements on numerous criteria.

The district is especially happy to see the scores for Harlingen High School and Harlingen High School South.
