Jaimez wins school race

HARLINGEN — It’s a clear win this time around. Eladio Jaimez won the school board election yesterday with 1,904 votes, gaining victory over Rosalinda Mercado-Garza, who received 1,345 votes.

“It sounds cliché but hard work pays off,” said Jaimez, 39.

“Not only am I happy to have won, I am extremely excited for the hard work of the volunteers. We had supporters give us their time to stand at City Hall all day. People helped out in one way or the other. They are able to celebrate now.”

Jaimez said he looks forward to serving on an outstanding school board.
