HARLINGEN — Pretty soon, some local high school students will have new equipment for transporting their show animals to livestock competitions.

The FFA at HarlingenHigh School will receive a $2,500 donation from America’s Farmers Grow Communities later this spring. The organization is sponsored by the Monsanto Fund and directed by Frontis Newell, a local farmer.

Ashley Guerra, FFA advisor and agriculture science teacher at HarlingenHigh School, said everyone’s excited about the extra money.

“We all feel pretty much awesome and we’re very excited that we were able to receive the money,” Guerra said. “This is an opportunity to do better for the club.”
