McALLEN — Certain school district employees in the Rio Grande Valley may be prohibited from holding elected office under a new proposed policy.

Hidalgo County is extending its operating hours at WIC clinics throughout the area beginning in October.

GRANJENO — The stench of smoke was pungent in Granjeno Friday morning after multiple fire departments and agencies combated a grassfire that, according to Hidalgo County Fire Marshal Homero Garza, was 95% contained by 8 p.m. Thursday night.
