Due to high tides and weather conditions, Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr. has announced the temporary closure of some county beaches effective immediately.
Included in the closure are Boca Chica Beach and Beach Access No. 5 and No. 6 on South Padre Island. They will remain closed until further notice.
The closure affects all incoming vehicular and pedestrian traffic to protect the safety and well being of the public in light of extreme high tides and weather conditions, Trevino said in a news release.
Waves, tides, and winds call for undrivable land conditions.
Beachgoers are advised to be cautious will visiting county beaches and to heed the advice of the lifeguards and Flag Advisory System Signage at all times, the news release said.
Other Cameron County beach areas on SPI such as Beach Access No. 3 and 4, Isla Blanca Park, E.K. Atwood Park and Andy Bowie County Park, will remain open until further notice.
