Letters: Claims countered

It’s very funny how Republicans try to glorify Donald Trump.

1. They give him credit for the low numbers of illegal immigrants at the end of his administration, but fail to mention that because of COVID there were no jobs for them to try to get. In fact, under Trump the U.S. lost 2.9 million jobs. First and only president to leave office with fewer jobs than when he came in. Mrs. Hilda Garza DeShazo fails to mention that the U.S. has always had a problem with immigration (Feb. 17).

2. She claims gas and egg prices would be cheaper. But she fails to mention that no U.S. president has control of oil prices. Also, when Trump left office the demand for it was very low. This is what you call supply and demand. As for egg prices being so high, Mrs. DeShazo did a little research. It’s very easy. In 2022 the U.S. poultry industry had to destroy 50 million birds. That is why prices are so high — fewer hens laying eggs.

3. She claims the U.S. is on a course to war with China but fails to mention that currently the U.S. is not at war with any country. This is under Biden, not Trump. She also mentioned the balloon. But what she fails to mention is that under Trump there were three balloons that Trump didn’t do anything about.

4. She almost assumes inflation would not be as high. But she fails to mention that inflation is skyrocketing all over the world, but it’s better in the U.S. In fact, the U.S. bounced back at a record pace under Biden.

The U.S. has the lowest unemployment rate at 3.4% compared to Trump at 6.3%. In fact, that’s the lowest in 50 years. Under Biden the U.S. has created 12 million jobs.

5. She claims Vladimir Putin would not have attacked Ukraine. How would he have prevented it? By tweeting him to death, or by telling him that he would not build TrumpTowers if he does attack Ukraine.

6. She claims the U.S. would be exporting oil instead of begging for oil. Big shock: The U.S. exports oil from the WestTexasBasin. In fact, the U.S. is one of the biggest exporters of refined fuels like diesel in the world.

7. She claims our military would be ready to defend the U.S. Just like when Iran launched two missile strikes at the U.S. base in Iraq on Jan 8, 2020, and Trump didn’t respond to it.

Mrs. DeShazo, Trump was one of the most ignorant presidents when it came to foreign policy. He was very uneducated when it came to what treaty the U.S. had before he became president. The U.S. lost a lot of credibility around the world and from our allies.

So are we in a better place with Biden? Yes we are.

Now Republicans keep bringing up the open border. Next time you visit Reynosa, drive thru Customs without stopping and let’s find out what happens. Because if it’s an open border, why stop? Try also not stopping when you drive north at the checkpoint. Since it is an open border like Republicans claim, no need to stop, right?

Hypocrisy

perceived

On the Feb. 18 front page the Republicans were shown bragging about federal money coming to our Valley in the amount of $12.5 million. Wow, our very own Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham giving us our tax money that very few if any Republicans voted for. Methinks there is a little hypocrisy going on within our chicken coup!
