Letters: Fortified campuses

In the aftermath of the recent Texas elections, have you noticed that our schoolyards are now becoming fortresses of chain-link fence topped by multiple barbed-wire strands? Such is true at SouthMiddle School in Edinburg, my local public school.

Is there now a similarity between this schoolyard and the fencing seen at our local detention centers and penitentiaries except for the barbwire placement on the top rail (inside or outside climbing/scaling prevention)? Do we now see the future for our youth? Pen them inside their schools while they’re young, submit them to standardized testing, inadequate classroom/technology instruction due to inadequate state funding, more frequent active-shooter crisis drills, lockdowns, school police patrols, municipal police patrols, border patrols and so many other agencies stationed along our border.

Is it any wonder that weaponry has become more frequent among our young people when they can see it now everywhere, starting at school? Evidently, Texas government and the recent voters think that more weaponry and fortification are better and more profitable for the many contractors involved than actually solving the problem of too much weaponry and violence. Do we plan forever to fence in our children to ineffectively secure them from the current interpretation of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution?

Unfinished

business

I do some assessing this time of year of what is going on, mysteries yet to be solved, etc.

Who leaked the Supreme Court right-to-life decision? Why weren’t we told? What is someone hiding?

When will we see the unedited police cam video regarding Paul Pelosi’s attack?

When will drag queens be banned from performing in front of children in schools and libraries?

When will we see the extensive Capitol police footage of Jan. 6, 2021, instead of selected clips?

When will the full Hunter Biden laptop story go public in the media? I understand a SWAT team is planning to defend him.

How long will the government keep tapping our oil reserves to keep gasoline prices low?

When will our border be closed?

Why are people who cross the border without permission being treated better (benefits) than those hardworking people who live here and have green cards or are already citizens?

When will the president’s granddaughter, recently married in the White House on his birthday, and her husband move out of the White House where they have been living since August? Must be nice having weekends alone while Grandpa hightails it to Delaware. Who is paying for their stay? Quick — grab a mirror.

I hope Santa Claus or his elves can provide us with some answers.

The truth

Throwing acidic-words, attacks or insults at truth does not in any way alter the veracity or reality of facts. Attempts to disfigure the truth only damages and forever scars the attackers.
