Letters: Republicans spur defense

Some people seem to go apoplectic when they hear the name Donald Trump. One would think his name was on the ballot in these elections. With the national mainstream media as well as our local news outlets lambasting him and all other Republicans/conservatives on an almost daily basis, it makes one wonder if they are seriously concerned about losing power this November. They always seem to accentuate the negative. They consider Trump as the devil incarnate and will never acknowledge anything positive about him. All the published flowery prose plus all the literally hate-filled letters to the editor are proof of that.

Far be it for them to condemn the Russian hoax perpetuated against Trump or the two ridiculous impeachments or the constant negative publicity and lies told about and against him and his entire family while in office. What they also don’t acknowledge/remember about the Trump years are 1.8% inflation, gas prices at between $2-$3 per gallon, energy independence, grocery shelves fully stocked, secured borders, lower taxes, falling crime rates prior to the Antifa protests, record low unemployment and poverty rates, and we were not on the verge of war with anyone.

There’s not much to embellish about this current Biden Democratic administration. With a policy inflicted 8.3% inflation rate wreaking havoc upon families trying to put food on the table and pay the rent, I don’t think we are better off now than we were during the Trump years. With high inflation, rampant crime across the country, open borders, defunding and degrading law enforcement, higher costs of just about anything you go to buy and a very volatile world situation, things are not better off in my opinion.

Liberal Democratic policies caused this mess and conservative Republican policies can change it back.

Mr. Coronado blames Joe Biden for gas prices going above $5 a gallon in the USA (Letters, Sept. 25). I guess he blames Biden for gas going up all over the free world.

All world events push the price of oil up, like Russia invading Ukraine.

He claims that under Donald Trump the price of gas was $1.90. Could it be that the demand for gas was very low because a lot of Americans were out of work? More than 3 million jobs were lost in America under Trump. In fact, he is the only president in American history to leave office with fewer jobs than when he came in. When Trump left office unemployment was at 6.3% and not at 2% like he claims. Right now under Biden it is at 3.7%.

Mr. Coronado also stated that we ran from Afghanistan like a beaten dog with our tail between our legs. What Mr. Coronado failed to mention was that Trump was the one who negotiated our withdrawal from Afghanistan. He also failed to mention that Trump pulled back from Northern Syria in 2019, allowing Russia and ISIS to take over, also turning their back on the Kurdish forces who were fighting side by side with U.S. forces.

Mr. Coronado also claims that Trump was a strong leader who feared no enemy, yet he allowed Iraq to fire 2 dozen missiles at U.S. military bases in Iraq where U.S. troops were stationed at the time. Such a strong leader that he didn’t retaliate back at Iraq. Could it be that his bluff was called?

Mr. Coronado also claims that he put America first. I guess the attack on the U.S. Capitol is what he means by America first.

Or is it when he stole all those top-secret documents that the FBI had to get a court order to recover because he lied about not having them?

Morality

lacking

We Americans as young students were taught that the early migrants to this continent were searching for freedom of religion. That may be true but I have my doubts due to the fact that people move around this planet for various reasons whether it be fear for their lives, to have jobs that better their lives, greed, entrepreneurial spirit such as Elon Musk or fear of persecution because of their religious beliefs and various other reasons.

Now in this day of half-truths and outright lies we are beset with rumors being spread as facts but with absolutely no basis in fact! There is a study out that claims to be factual and in my lifetime of experiences I can believe it to be true. This study states that only 47% of Americans are affiliated with a church! As a Christian and a church attendee three times a week for most of my life, I hit a brick wall.

My former pastor was recently in the news for having a sexual encounter with another pastor’s wife. The denomination reportedly has many leaders in the same situation.

I took the Apostle Paul’s advice and shook the dust off my shoes and left, taking my faith in Jesus with me.

I am convinced we need to do the same with our morally deficient politicians of today.
