Letters: Statement draws fire

The Oct. 7 edition of The Monitor reported some highly offensive remarks made at a local event the previous day by Ms. Mayra Flores who is running for election in the Texas 34th Congressional District. Ms. Flores was reported to have said that Christian values are on the line in the November midterm election. She reportedly then stated, “It’s not about just Republican or Democrat, it really is about good versus evil.”

This statement is not only outrageous, it also is patently false. Has Ms. Flores forgotten about the infamous family-separation policy of the Trump administration? That was a true example of pure evil.

Please vote Ms. Flores out of office.

Booster

blasted

The new “never tested” COVID booster has been authorized for human use by the FDA.

To be fully transparent, it was tested. It was not tested on humans, but it was tested on eight mice for the new BA.4/BA.5 variant boosters. Therefore the FDA, which in my opinion is controlled by Big Pharma, has authorized the new booster for human use.

Tejano hero’s

forgotten vote

Texas history has long forgotten Juan Seguin and his Tejanos’ political choices in 1836, which leads me to wonder whom they would be voting for today in our midterm elections — Gov. Greg Abbott or Beto O’Rourke.

Beto totally supports radical groups who want to defund and demobilize the police, but after the Texas war for independence, Capt. Seguin was promoted to lieutenant colonel and commandant of San Antonio to provide law and order for San Antonio, especially for Tejanos.

During the summer of 2020, when Antifa terrorists and Black Lives Matter radicals were part of 574 riots across our country destroying billions of dollars of property, as well as assaulting hundreds of police with bricks, rocks, and Molotov cocktails, Beto never spoke up against the lawlessness and chaos these groups were providing. However, during the 1839-1840 Great Comanche Raids against Texans and Tejanos in the San Antonio area, Mayor Seguin organized and personally led his company of Tejanos under the general command of Col. Henry Karnes to put down the uprising.

Beto supports abortions, but Seguin was a devout Catholic. After Lt. Col. Seguin and his Tejanos provided the military funeral service for the ashes and bones of the defenders of the Alamo, Seguin buried some of the remains in front of the altar of the San FernandoChurch in honor the Catholic fallen defenders. Being a Catholic, Seguin believed in the sanctity of life, both born and unborn.

Beto wants to confiscate AR-15s because they are weapons of destruction, but Capt. Seguin totally supported the Battle of Gonzales, Oct. 2, 1835. The “come and take it” battle symbolized to all Texans and Tejanos the right to keep and bear arms, their small 3-pound cannon.

Because Seguin was pro-life, pro-gun, pro-law and order and pro-national security, I believe Seguin would be voting for Gov. Abbott, as I will and hope this Tejano tradition continues.
