SAN BENITO — School district officials have designated four days in the remainder of the school year to have asynchronous remote learning.
On Feb. 9, San Benito CISD Board of Trustees approved the use of a Texas Education Agency waiver for the online learning days.
The online learning days are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 26, Monday, March 22, Friday, April 30 and Friday, May 21.
According to officials, the asynchronous learning days will be used to provide teachers with four days of planning and preparation.
Students will spend those four days at home participating in asynchronous instruction.
Meaning, all students receiving either on-site or virtual instruction will stay home those days and participate in remote learning.
According to the announcement, students will not be logging on to Google Meet with their teachers.
They will only need to log on to their Google Classroom and complete the assigned work for the day.
The announcement states that students will be required to complete their online assignments by 11:59 p.m. each day to be marked present on the virtual days.
“Therefore, it is imperative to contact your campus principal if your child experiences connectivity issues on the virtual days,” the announcement states. “We greatly appreciate your ongoing support as we continue delivering a gold standard educational experience to our students.”
