Owners of Complete 180 seek healthy changes

When the pandemic first started to hit Brownsville last year, Angelita and Mike Iracheta saw a huge increase in community members trying to start a healthy lifestyle and change their habits to feel safer and be healthier.

As owners of Complete Nutrition 180, Angelita and Mike’s mission is to help their clients transform themselves, to a “complete 180 change” and achieve their health goals for whatever reason it may be. For some, it has been to be healthier and no longer be at the most risk for the virus. For others, it is to live longer and spend time with their children and grandchildren.

“The idea behind that is if you’re going to transform yourself, you are going to do a complete 180, not a full 360 to end up where you started,” Mike said.

“Our idea is to inspire life change, to motivate people and empower them. We want them to take back the control and the confidence levels of their life, for them to feel a lot more comfortable in their own skin. We both come from backgrounds of being obese, I used to weigh 350 pounds, seven years ago and I found fitness to be a way to cope with things, but not only that, I started to fall in love with the body changes … being able to help and guide others.”

Having achieved their fitness goals, Angelita and Mike know how hard it is to change one’s lifestyle completely. At Complete Nutrition 180 they offer everything one may need to start the process, from being scanned at the InBody machine to creating a meal and workout plan. They both said they would like to see Brownsville on the map for being healthier and having healthy choices.

Mike said the InBody machine breaks down one’s weight by doing a body composition analysis, a muscle-fat analysis, an obesity analysis, a segmental lean analysis and more. He said this helps to know exactly where one stands right now in terms of body health and what needs to be done to achieve whatever fitness goal one may have.

“It is important because we think long term. Your health, you want to be active and be around for your kids, your grandkids. With the generations that are coming now, seeing that they are really into fitness, weight loss and muscle building, it is important now for the younger generations to start here and be at a better spot than where we are,” he said.

“The healthier we could be the better it is for us and for the entire city of Brownsville. To be able to get Brownsville on the map, as far as taking it off of our obesity levels being so high, that would just bring improvement for the town. Instead of us being noticed for our eating culture and obesity, it would be good to be known for our fitness changes, competitions, making history in a good way.”

Angelita said one bit of advice she has for those scared and overwhelmed to start their fitness journey is to take it day by day. She said she was happy to see more people being active by taking walks or riding bikes daily when the gyms were closed due to the virus.

“We did see a lot more people trying to get into the fitness healthy lifestyle, change their lifestyle around. We would walk outside and see people walking outside. That was a big change and it brought happiness to us. It was cool to see all that even though the pandemic is going on,” she said.

“Take it easy, take it day by day, there is no rush and you don’t need to be at the gym for hours. Even if it is just two or three days a week, you’re still getting work in and training your body to do something, instead of just being sedentary.”
