Neighbor in custody after rural Alamo shooting death

Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a homicide in rural Alamo, where authorities found the victim with “multiple gunshot wounds” and took a neighbor into custody.

Sheriff J.E. “Eddie” Guerra said on Twitter that deputies responded to the 6700 block of Argentine Street in rural Alamo at around 3:04 a.m. and found the victim, whose identity has not yet been revealed.

The shooting victim later died after being transported to a local hospital. The victim’s neighbor was “taken into custody,” but authorities have not shared whether any charges have been filed.

“Victim was transported to hospital and died,” Guerra said via Twitter. “Victim’s neighbor has been taken into custody. Investigation is ongoing.”
