The Hidalgo County Courthouse will be closed on Wednesday due to a faulty cooling tower that requires replacement.
In a news release, the county said the frame of the cooling tower collapsed on Tuesday, stopping water from cooling the courthouse building.
In other words, the air-conditioning is not working.
“County officials have determined that it would be best to shut the courthouse down during repairs,” the release stated. “All operations in the courthouse, including jury duty, will be temporarily halted.”
Courthouse officials, along with county workers, will make a determination on Wednesday regarding when the courthouse may open again.
