Nightly road closures scheduled this week for Pharr interchange construction

Road construction continues at I-2/I-69C Interchange on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, in Pharr. (Joel Martinez | [email protected])

There will be road closures in Pharr scheduled throughout the week as construction continues on the interchange progresses.

As crews work on the deck portion of the new direct connectors, there will be closures to the I-2 eastbound and westbound main lanes beginning Monday night through Sunday, April 23 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

There will continue to be full closures of the I-2 main lanes in both directions throughout the week.

The I-2 westbound main lanes will be closed between the Cage Boulevard exit ramp and Sugar Road, as well as the I-2 eastbound main lanes between the Sugar Road exit ramp and Vic’s Drive.

These closures will take place Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Friday from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., and Saturday from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.

The closures will temporarily affect the I-2 westbound frontage road between Veterans and Cage boulevards.

The frontage road will be reduced to one lane at 8 p.m. each night, followed by a full closure at 12 a.m. This closure will not occur during the westbound main lane closure.

Additional closures include the I-69C southbound and northbound frontage roads, which will also be closed nightly between SH 495 and I-2, and the Jackson Road underpass, which will be intermittently closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through May 10.
