McAllen Public Library earns Achievement of Library of Excellence Award for the ninth year in a row

The McAllen Public Library has once again been awarded the Achievement of Library of Excellence award, making that nine times in row.

The award is presented to libraries that exhibit excellence in providing services to underserved and special populations, as well as in enhancing service, in marketing their programs and services in innovative ways.

Those who receive the award also show qualities in promoting cultural, topical and educational programming, as well as providing literacy support and summer reading clubs while pursuing collaborative efforts, supporting workforce development, providing for digital inclusion and comprehensively training staff.

“The McAllen Public Library continues to meet the evolving needs of our community members. The library director, Kate Horan, and her entire staff deserve this recognition for always promoting literacy, communication and the exchange of knowledge and information, which is the mission of a true library,” McAllen City Manager Role “Roy” Rodriguez said in a news release.
