Walker Smith, director of The Port of Harlingen Authority, was appointed a member to Port Authority Advisory Committee (PAAC) during TxDOT’s Feb. 23 regular commission meeting.
Smith, a previous PAAC member from 2019-2022, is one of three lower coast representatives. His current term expires in February 2026.
Smith is also the president of the Gulf Ports Association, an executive committee member of the Texas Ports Association, a member of the South Texas Area Maritime Security committee, and an active member in the Gulf Intracoastal Canal Association, Inland Rivers, Ports and Terminals and the American Association of Port Authorities.
PAAC is a nine-member committee that facilitates communication between TxDOT and committee members representing the state’s port industry.
