A 33-year-old Donna man was sentenced to 50 years in prison on Monday for the continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Carlos Gomez was found guilty on Feb. 23, of five counts of sexual abuse of a child including continuous sexual abuse of a child, two counts of indecency with a child by contact and two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
On Monday, Auxiliary Court Judge Linda Yanez handed down the sentence.
“I want to commend (assistant district attorney) Laura Rodriguez for ensuring this sexual predator never hurts another innocent child ever again,” District Attorney Toribio “Terry” Palacios said in a news release.
Rodriguez prosecuted the case.
The release did not disclosure the details of the allegations against Gomez.
