Hidalgo County Sheriff J.E. “Eddie” Guerra tweeted Thursday morning regarding an attempted kidnapping that resulted in the death of one suspect.
According to the tweet, Guerra stated that sheriff’s deputies responded to the 6800 block of Vera Lane in rural Mercedes at 3:36 a.m. to a report of an attempted kidnapping.
“One of the suspects was shot and was transported to a local hospital where he later died,” Guerra said.
Currently, there are two suspects in custody while one remains at large.
