Cameron County tax offices will be closed all day Wednesday due to mandatory staff training.

The mandatory training is for Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, Texas Property Tax Code, policies and procedures for Cameron County, Tax Assessor-Collector Tony Yzaguirre Jr. said in a news release.

The news release said as Texas Legislature changes these codes and statues, county employees have to be trained and have full knowledge for the changes taking place.

“Not only will the training be of tax and motor vehicle tax codes, but also customer service and be able to answer questions not only regarding the tax collection process, but also the appraisal process,” the news release stated.

The tax office will resume normal operations at 8 a.m. Thursday.
