If Gorditas Doña Lula’s wasn’t a drive-thru before, it is now after someone crashed into the Weslaco eatery Thursday morning in a case local police are calling “human error.”

According to police, the single vehicle crash occurred at 1919 West Interstate Highway-2, Suite #100, at approximately 8:56 a.m. Police said a vehicle crashed into the northeast side entrance of the restaurant and ended up on the southeast exit.

“Fortunately, there were no reported injuries as a result of the accident,” police said.

Police added that the preliminary investigation revealed that human error was the cause of the accident and said the restaurant will remain closed as the City of Weslaco Code Enforcement evaluates the structural damage caused by the crash.

Weslaco police urged all drivers to exercise caution and avoid engaging in behaviors that could lead to accidents.

The department also reminded drivers not to drive while distracted or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
