Scattered showers expected Friday in Rio Grande Valley

You are going to want to keep those umbrellas at hand, as showers are forecasted for the Rio Grande Valley.

Although some of the showers are expected Friday afternoon, some could occur earlier in the day, according to the National Weather Service in Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley.

There’s a 50% of showers or thunderstorms Friday for the Upper and Mid Valley. The chances increase in the Lower Valley to 60%.

The NWS reports a trough and upper-level system in the area will produce the rain and some of these showers and thunderstorms could cause heavy downpours at times.

Around early Friday evening, most of the showers and thunderstorms are expected to move south and out of our area, the NWS reports.

Friday’s highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.
