A student from Rio Hondo High School was arrested Thursday after a firearm and ammunition were found in the student’s possession, according to a press statement from the school district.
According to the statement, the firearm and ammunition were inside the student’s personal vehicle that was parked at the school.
“The school district’s police department led the investigation, which resulted in a prompt resolution,” the statement read.
The statement also said that no one at the campus was in any danger or harm and that the student will be disciplined in accordance with district policies.
“The safety and welfare of our students is the first and foremost concern for the trustees and administration of Rio Hondo Independent School District,” the statement said. “Because of FERPA laws and our student’s rights, we cannot discuss the discipline or issues of specific students at the district. “
