Group to host internship initiative Wednesday in Brownsville

Rally in the Valley! is encouraging high school juniors and seniors and college and university students to attend an internship initiative Wednesday at the Brownsville Events Center to connect students and employers with internship opportunities.

Rally in the Valley! is sponsored by the Texas Workforce Commission in collaboration with the City of Brownsville, Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation, RGV Partnership, Workforce Solutions offices in Cameron County and the Lower Rio Grande Valley, and TXWORKS.

The conference aims to connect industry partners with internship opportunities for students through Texas Interns Unite, the organization said in a news release Monday.

“We look forward to hosting this event and providing students in our community with new employment opportunities to further enhance their careers in the Texas workforce. Internships are key to students’ success in their careers. When given the opportunity to learn and build relationships with employers, it is beneficial for students’ professional careers,” Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez said.

The conference will feature former interns and guest speakers from Texas employers, motivational career coaching to create networking opportunities for employers to meet the future of the Texas workforce. The aim is to connect students with career development opportunities.

The event is hosted by the Texas Interns Unite initiative, a digital platform that provides students with the opportunity to network, further enhance their careers and gain hands-on experience.
