Keeping Texas beaches clean is one of the goals of the Texas General Land Office and on Saturday, the GLO is inviting volunteers to help in the Adopt-A-Beach 2022 Coastwide Fall Cleanup.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and area beaches included are Boca Chica Beach, South Padre Island county beaches and city beaches, and Laguna Point Park in Willacy County.

Since 1986, more than 557,000 volunteers have helped remove nearly 10,000 tons of trash from over 11,000 miles of Texas coastline during Adopt-A-Beach events, the GLO said in a media release. Interested participants can register ahead of time here and view the 27 cleanup locations spread along the Texas coast on this interactive map.

This year’s state sponsors include the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Valero, the Texas Coastal Management Program, ExxonMobil, Great Lakes Dredge & Dock, Flint Hills, Gulf Copper, Altos Plantos Mijenta Tequila, and iwi Life.

This is a rain or shine event.
