Brownsville Independent School District police and security officers on Tuesday arrested a male in possession of a firearm.
Responding to suspicious activity at Paredes Elementary School Tuesday afternoon, authorities detained a male who was found in possession of a firearm, the district said in a media release.
The school was put into lockdown while the officers went to the parking lot where the male was found and removed from the school.
Police and Security Services Department is investigating the incident, according to the media release.
The lockdown at Paredes Elementary School was lifted at about 3:30 p.m. All students and staff were safe and secure, district officials said.
Dismissal began as scheduled.
