With a tropical disturbance expected to bring heavy rain into Cameron County Saturday or Saturday evening, the county and city of Brownsville will hold sandbag distribution events beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday.
Cameron County will be distributing sandbags from 7 a.m. until noon at the following locations:
>> Pct. 1 County Warehouse, 2050 S. Browne Ave., in Brownsville;
>> Pct. 2 County Warehouse, 7092 Old Alice Rd., in Brownsville;
>> Pct. 3 County Warehouse,26945 FM 510, San Benito;
>> Pct. 4 County Warehouse, 26623 White Ranch Road, La Feria.
Sandbag distributions may be discontinued at the county’s discretion.
Brownsville residents can pick up sandbags from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, at the Brownsville Event Center, on Paredes Line Road, and Monte Bella Park located at 2485 W. Alton Gloor Boulevard, while supplies last.
Residents can get up to eight bags and businesses will be able to get 10 bags. Residents must bring an ID and utility bill.
