The McAllen Police Department took a man into custody on Monday after he called police to say he shot a man in self defense.
In a news release, police said they responded to a call about a disturbance in the 2000 block of Redbud Avenue about 3:35 p.m. Monday.
“Reporting Person … called the McAllen Police Department and stated that, ‘he shot a male … in self-defense,’” the release stated. The man, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, died, according to police.
The department said the fatal shooting involved two men and not the business itself. Police did not disclose the name of the business to which they were referring.
“This is an ongoing homicide investigation,” the news release stated.
