The body of a Dominican Republic man was found east of Rio Grande City on Friday, according to a Facebook post from the Starr County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the area of Santa Rosa after a civilian discovered the lifeless body.
“At arrival Starr County Deputies found the lifeless body of 45 year old Dominican Republic male in the brush area,” the post read. “Male was identified through his identification he had on him. No foul play is suspected at this time.”
Justice of the Peace Lamar De La Cruz pronounced the man dead and ordered an autopsy.
Rodriguez Funeral Home transported the body to Elizondo’s Embalming in Mission. A preliminary autopsy report indicated that the “cause of death is attributed to exposure to elements and dehydration.”
